Hello and Happy Halloween! In spirit of Halloween, I decided I would post my production Blog that I made while working on my comic for the Anthology Project vol.2 . There you will find the completed version along with all of my development on the comic. It's full of bad artwork!! But it'll give you a good view into my messy ways. It has been almost a year since I completed it, which seems hard to believe. I earned a new respect for independent comic artists through working on this. It's so much work! so if you don't love your story, it can be a long and painful journey. It's a great accomplishment and a lot of torture and fun at the same time.

This was the final version for the art show last Thursday. I was very pleased with the quality of the print I had done at CanvasPop. They do a very professional job and communicate with you through out. I'll try to post some of my other ideas in the coming week if anyone's interested. There was a lot of really cool stuff at the show. I heard that someone is making a blog with photo's of everyone's work, so i will add a link when i find out more.

Thanks for anyone still visiting this blog. I have had so many projects and work I haven't been able to write about. but I have lots to post. Now I just need to take the time to do it. This is just a little ink doodle I did on a cigarette pack that i wanted to scan at high quality to see how the lines looked. It didn't look as cool as i thought. (oh yeah, and my scanner is working again!)

anyhow, I will try to find some time tomorrow to pose some recent work. I start my new job tomorrow too, so if it's too hectic it might have to wait again. Thanks for visiting!

the ANTHOLOGY PROJECT

I haven't posted much over the last while. I have had a lot of freelance and other projects that I was not able to post about.. but now i think I am at a point where I can start showing some of the stuff I have been working on.

Sam Bradley, a work colleague of mine, showed me a graphic novel he was involved in called the Anthology Project. I thought it looked super cool and asked if they were looking for any new artists to participate in the second volume. He kindly put in a good word for me and I was fortunate to snag a spot in volume 2. I am currently in the process of polishing it off.

the creators: Joy, Nick & Sam have pitched the 2nd volume on Kick Starter to raise money to help fund the second volume. check it out! They have also set up an amazing forum to view each others progress along the way and I am so excited to be a part of it. It's so much hard work and so much talent involved. It's also quite intimidating...
I will keep you posted on any news that comes up regarding vol.2

OTTAWA animation FEST

I was kindly asked by my new pal Kyle Marshall to participate in an art show at the OZ kafe in Ottawa on Thursday, October 21st. So for any of you attending the Ottawa Animation Festival this year.. go and check it out!! It should be super cool, tons of talented artists.. the theme for the show is Nursery Rhymes so it was a ton of fun to contribute. I will not be able to make it sadly for me, I have way too much work to do over the next little while. I will post my contribution after the opening night followed by lots of other updates. I have a lot to post after my 3 or 4 month hiatus. hope you enjoy the festivities.

THANKS for stopping by! first off though... have any of you read the post by john K "Does Everybody Want To Be A Character Designer?" it's a pretty good article, but it kinda trashes Total Drama Island (which is the show i am currently working on) I guess i'm not that suprised it is so criticised since it isn't done traditionally.. however i am a bit suprised that so many people agreed and thought it was bad. I personally love the designs, and i'm sure the intention is to take them as far as you can within your scene, however there's no time or money to make it like we'd all like to. Anyway. some interesting discussion over there.. I'll post some more of my posing stuff from Total Drama. (just gotta figure out how far along is it on the tele)

Here are some poses I have done for Total Drama Action. If you havent seen it yet, check it out every sunday at 6:30 pm on Teletoon. It is a really fun job and a great show to work on with great animation and incredible character designs. I have worked on the show for 2 seasons now and it just keeps getting better. I decided to go with the cleaned up versions of these poses which have gone through the clean up department. I will post again after season 2 is complete with more poses and a better description of the process. hope you like!

i drew this for kelly last night. i got up to sharpen my pencil but decided to scan it and play around with colour rather than finishing the drawing. hopefully i will get around to reworking the parts that bother me, then spending a bit more time painting it. its always rewarding putting in the extra time. I have followed in the footsteps of a few friends of mine and tried brewing my own beer. In celebration of trying my first bottle,, i decided to make up a label for them. i tried a few different ideas, but was kinda in a rush to get something quickly so i could give away six packs as gifts over thanksgiving. i'm a little embarrassed that james wheat is the best i could think of, but cockfighters ghost had already been taken.
